We're Talkin Dirty Here

Sorry to disappoint you ladies but this post is about white shirts!
I was looking for a nice white shirt. . . and I found one.
George Clooney just happened to be wearing it.
Thought you all deserved an added blog perk! Hee Hee
And because I want your man to look equally as debonair,
(Ok, so I'm pushing limits here) I thought you'd like these tips.

Does anyone want to know how to get out yellow/brown spots on the tips of the collars of your hunk of burnin love's nice white dress shirts. Or how to remove that dirty gray neck grunge collars collect. Try the following techniques to get the stains out and in the future, know that the dryer is your greatest saboteur.

When you dry dress shirts (mens or womens) just throw the shirts in the dryer with the rest of the load for a few minutes to remove excess water, then line dry or dry flat: This prevents burning or browning of the tips.

Set your timer or you'll be pulling your dress shirts out at the end of the cycle along with everything else and you'll be saying bad words.

Here are some good stain removal methods:

The vinegar potion: Pour my old friend white vinegar directly on the stain. Then, rub with a paste made of vinegar and baking soda. If the stain is still there, add a couple tablespoons each of vinegar and laundry detergent to a bucket of hot water, and soak over night. Once stain is (prayerfully) gone, launder as usual.

The Oxyclean miracle worker- Put a few scoops of Oxyclean in a bucket with hot water - soak the shirts for a few hours and check on the stain. If it's still there - put it back in the bucket to soak some more. Over night is a good idea. Once stain is (cross your fingers) gone, launder as usual.

Lemon juice (smell so good) recipe - Squeeze a good amount of fresh lemon juice on the stains and put out in the sun to dry. Launder as usual.

Freeze me white again attack plan- This is a tried and true guarantee. If your white shirts (any washable) get that dingy grey look going, use the above methods and then launder as usual but instead of putting your shirt in the dryer, stick it in the freezer for a couple of days. When you pull it out, let it unthaw naturally as to not break the fibers, then follow the above directions for drying.

Yours Truly.

Here's The Dirt

I was thinking today, there are certain tools in my life I just cannot do without. For some strange reason this triggered pondering about the pioneers and their meager wagons filled with a few sparse belongings. Well, if I were a Pioneer about to cross the planes, this item would have to be the first thing I put in my hand cart. Maybe that’s what made me shutter to think it probably hadn’t been invented yet and therefore I would have had to go without. I’m sure that’s why I told God I needed to wait and come to earth a little later. I would have never cut it as a pioneer; I simply could not live with out my Eureka Boss vacuum.

Roll your eyes and shake your head all you want, if you have never owned a Eureka Boss vacuum then you simply cannot relate to me! What planet do you live on?

I can thank my sister, the White Tornado’s blood daughter for the introduction. Just like my mother, my sister Nancy is the cleaning queen and she introduced me to my love affair with the Boss. Don’t you see, all us Blanch girls come from the loins of the "White Tornado" and our mother wrote the book on cleaning! So I knew my sister had found gold when she showed me this little awesome power tool.

Oh, even I had to learn things the hard way, I was foolish enough to think I could switch to another brand when my first little Boss wore itself right out. I still can’t believe I made the grave mistake of buying a different brand. Slap me silly, I used it twice and promptly gave it to the DI! That is one mistake I will never make again, and I’m here to tell you, if Eureka ever stops making this little world class wonder, I’ll shrivel up and die!

You can vacuum everything with this thing. There is never a day that goes by that I don’t use it. From sucking up crumbs and hairballs in a myriad of drawers to any floor in the house, it’s primo! I especially love it for my hardwood floors, not to mention stairs and baseboards. But it’s also a great pick-er-upper for the carpet when I don’t want to get out the big guns, not to mention how great it works on my kitchen rugs.

You only have one life to live, it’s your life, be a fool and never own one if you want, I’ll just say I told you so when your house doesn’t pass the white glove test!

I know I'm jumping the gun a little bit when it comes to the subject of 'Spring Cleaning' and here it's only the middle of February. (So sue me for sitting at my study window dreaming of days filled with more sun and a little warmth.) Is it just me or has winter gotten longer? Maybe I'm thinking of 'Spring Cleaning' because I still have Christmas crap sitting in my best living room waiting to be put into boxes and hauled to the basement. I'm a procrastinator of the worst kind. It' s nearly Valentine's Day and I haven't even dusted off my Valentine's wreath that should be hanging on the front door right now or taken the sled off my front porch (my symbolic winter decoration) and here I'm stuck on thoughts of spring and cleaning my house. Well, here are three products one should never be without!!! I go through "Windex with Vinegar" like I go through sugar! Favorite quote from the movie "Michael" "Just remember Sparky, you can never have too much sugar!" And so I'm telling you right now "Woman, you can never have to much Windex with Vinegar!" It's the greatest product ever made. I use it for everything from my walls to shinning up my tile in the bathroom. It's the best finger print remover I've ever come across and it doesn't streak your walls. I think I'd brush my teeth with it if it didn't taste so nasty! Just don't use it on glass and mirror's, it streaks. But "DO" use it on everything else! I could buy this product in gallons if they would just accommodate me and make it in gallons. I did find two quart bottles to refill my sprayer once at "Lowe's." This is a two year stockable item in my food storage and I keep one in every bathroom, the kitchen, as well as my laundry room. Next on the list of "Have to have's" . . . . . "Top Crest" window cleaner. This product does not streak and when it comes to windows, I simply hate "Windex!" Notice the cleaner is clear. After I noticed my white grout turning blue in Deserey's bathroom I stopped using blue cleaners! Blue Windex is really the worst window cleaner I've ever used, and since I'm seriously the 'White Tornadoes' blood daughter (a chip off the old block I might add) I simply won't buy 'Windex' glass window cleaner anymore! Last but not least, if you use anything on your precious wood besides "Guardsman" you are a buffoon! MaryAnn Jenkins taught me this valuable principle and I've been a fan ever since. Well, now you are prepared for when winter finally melts its way out of your life and you get the urge to 'Spring Clean!'
